Health benefits...

SESAME – These little seeds are considered sattvic (associated with serenity, balance, harmony, and goodness) in āyurveda. They decrease vāta and build ojas. In English, this means that they support the immune system and promote a sense of groundedness, calm, and clarity. The high oil content of the seeds provides rich nourishment for the skin, as well as lubrication and protection for the body tissues. They are heating in nature, aiding circulation and invigorating the eyes and liver. Sesame is also used traditional to treat anxiety and insomnia.

ACTIVATED CHARCOAL – this little secret ingredient is optional in the recipe so don’t get flustered if you can’t find it. An up-and-coming name in the superfood community, charcoal can be traced back to medicinal use in Ancient Egypt and Greece (Hippocrates was a fan). It was also used by Native American’s for treating skin infections, gas pains, inflammation and bruises. Activated charcoal has the ability to absorb more poisons, heavy metals, gases and toxins than any other substance, making it an incredibly powerful detoxifier. For this reason, only a very small amount should be used, especially if used on a frequent basis.
