ĀYURVEDA
Āyurveda is an ancient system of life and longevity stemming back to the Vedic period in India. A holistic approach to wellness, Āyurveda (the “science of life”) aims to balance and harmonise the mind, body, senses and spirit, promoting longevity, connection to nature, and greater spiritual clarity. This scientific art that takes into account one’s entire situation, collecting data
to make sense of why we do the things we do, or feel the way we feel.
Traditionally, āyurveda is woven into every aspect of one’s life, and is therefore considered a preventative, health sustaining medicinal art. Curative medicine, or the restoration of health from disease state, is the second prong of āyurvedic practice, and the two go hand in hand to ensure the smooth, organic functioning of our lives.
Contemporary life moves at such a pace that we often struggle to find the time to stop and reconnect. A by-product of this problem is finding ourselves run off our feet, out of touch with our bodies and emotions, witnessing our health dwindle.
Stress is the number one cause of disease in our society. This is hugely problematic in a society where stress is considered an inevitability of working life. As the body and mind try to keep up with the pressures placed upon them, we begin to notice small shifts as imbalances occur, sometimes resulting in minor physical discomforts, weakened digestion, or feelings of anxiety and depression. We are demanding on ourselves and often let these small messages from the body go unheard, and run the risk of destabilizing health even further, becoming susceptible to disease.

CONSULTATIONS

Charlotte offers one-on-one āyurvedic consultations in person, or via Skype. These sessions aim to tackle any problems/discomforts (mental, emotional, or physical) that you may be experiencing with the goal of optimizing health. Whether you have a specific complaint, or you are just after some useful tips and practices to support a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, the ancient art of āyurveda seeks to restore balance and harmony in all aspects of life.
What to expect
During an
initial 75-minute consultation, Charlotte employs various traditional practices
to make a detailed assessment of your general health, medical history, and diet
and lifestyle, in order to determine your natural bodily constitution
(prakruti). Inquiries will be made into your current symptomology (vikruti).
Through discussion, pulse analysis, tongue diagnosis and other practices, the
causes of imbalance that may be impacting or altering quality of life are
rooted out. Together a treatment plan consisting of diet, lifestyle, and herbal
remedies will be drawn up. Charlotte will construct a regime that is both
realistic, and affordable, to suit the client's current needs. By the end of
the session, you will have a better understanding of the diet and lifestyle
practices that support your constitution and restore wellbeing, through
detoxification, strengthening the digestive fire (agni), increasing energy, and
promoting calmness.
60 minute
follow up sessions will monitor your progress and adjust treatment plans
accordingly. Additional treatments and herbs may be advised as the effects of
treatment become evident.
